Camps are a great way to allow students to try out your facility with minimal commitment while allowing you to receive income during the summer months that tend to be slower for some businesses. But what is the best way to set your summer camps up in Jackrabbit?
Setting up Camps as Events
Events are great but they are best used for those one-day occasions such as Birthday parties, Parent’s night out, etc.
Setting your camps up as events can cause more work for both you and the parent. Since events are one day, each day of camp would be a separate event. This would require your parents, who want their child to attend for a full week, to register for 5 events in order to secure their child’s spot for the week.
Events also offer less reporting options (enrollment and revenue) that you may find beneficial to determine the success of your camps.
For more information on what you can do with the Events module check out our Events Help articles.
Setting up Camps as Classes
To make registering for camp super easy on parents (and you), set up your camps as classes!
Each camp can be its own class with a start and end date corresponding with the week the camp will be held. It is helpful to include the dates in the name of the class so enrollment and registration are easy! If your camp has a theme, you can include that in the class name as well and or include the theme in the class description.
Setting your camps up as classes allows you to pull more detailed enrollment and financial reports and also offers you the opportunity to take your camp attendance via the Staff Portal as you would for your normal classes throughout the rest of the year!
If you offer the flexibility to choose the days of the week that a student plans to attend, you can set up your camp as a Per-Day class. Per-Day classes are great for classes that meet multiple times during the week (at the same start/end times) and allow parents to schedule which days their child plans to attend. You can easily see enrollment by day so you can staff your camp accordingly.
See our Help article Per Day / Multiple Meeting Classes for more information on how to set these up.
